Trip cancellation and interruption insurance

Has anyone found trip cancellation and trip interruption insurance that will cover you if you test positive for COVID either before getting on a plane or while you are away?  Not looking for medical insurance, have that covered. Just cancellation!

Here's what is and isn't covered by Medoc. As you'll see, they will not provide the coverage that you are seeking. Unfortunately, I know of no Canadian company that does. Manulife does have COVID coverage as well, but I haven't looked at the details.

 

MEDOC:

 

COVID-19 coverage available for Emergency Medical Insurance benefits

Emergency Medical Insurance benefits continue to provide coverage for eligible emergencies related to COVID-19, even while a Canadian travel advisory related to COVID-19 is in effect.

COVID-19 coverage excluded for Trip Cancellation, Interruption & Delay Insurance benefits

The policy does not provide coverage for any trip cancellation, interruption or delay if it is directly or indirectly related to COVID-19. This exclusion applies regardless of if travel advisories for COVID-19 are in effect.

If you are on Celebrity prior to 31 Oct 2021 they offer the following(at no extra charge):

 

  • 100% cruise fare refund for you, and your Travelling Party, if any of you tests positive for COVID-19 within 14 days prior to the cruise or at the boarding terminal.*
  • Pro-rated cruise fare refund for anyone who has their cruise cut short due to testing positive for COVID-19 or being suspected of having COVID-19 during the cruise.
  • If you test positive for COVID-19 during the cruise, Celebrity Cruises will cover the costs of COVID-19 related medical treatment onboard, any required land-based quarantine, and travel home for you and your Travelling Party.
