FCC received for cancelled cruise less than expected.

On several occasions, the amount received from RC for the FCC has been less than the original deposit made. I received a value $71.00

yesterday; however, I was expecting the deposit of $100.00.  

 

I had  called previously about a decrease in the FCC for our family cruise; I was told that they had "credited our credit card" too much, and

had adjusted the FCC.

 

I read on the certificate that this could be due to rate decrease?

 

Is this common? At this point, I really don't know what to believe.

Port fees/taxes may have been over refunded to the credit card, so you received the difference.  Do the cc refund and the FCC add up to what you paid?

Are you really paying taxes and port fees when you put down just the $500 deposit then the cruise gets canceled, seems you would get the whole $500 as a FCC

I've never seen a deposit allocated toward port taxes.  The deposits I've had refunded due to cancellation all have been 100% refunded as FCC.

I might be wrong then, or thinking about a different cruise line.  After this much time and all of the changes, I can’t keep track of it all.  Though the OP was told  that they “credited our credit card too much”, so maybe not.

This is relatively common
