jammer1000 Posted July 30, 2021 Author #5 Share Posted July 30, 2021 Thank you for that info , I wonder if that % has reduced now it’s school holidays…..
Notts1964 Posted July 31, 2021 #6 Share Posted July 31, 2021 We sailed on 17 July. I didn’t see many dinner jackets/tuxedos, I’d say only around 10% of men, although there were also some men with normal suits on. Generally most people did look smarter than on other nights. I think everyone would have felt comfortable in their choice.
Nunagoras Posted July 31, 2021 #7 Share Posted July 31, 2021 Before the pandemic, normally, on average, a dark suit was the norm for formal nights. On the most recent years with the rising plane luggage limits that norm has slightly shifted to dark pants and a nice collared shirt. Tuxedos and other very formal wear for both men and women has always been rare on the less than 5% of the crowd. Mostly people try to be smarter than on other nights. Just that with not anything else more special. Have a nice day and nice sailing!

Cruiseforever11 Posted July 31, 2021 #9 Share Posted July 31, 2021 Just got back home after being on 24th sailing. 2 formal nights as per 3rd July sailing I did as well. This time daughter and I got dressed up the 1st time 2nd time we went casual to see what if any reaction was and to be honest no one worried what so ever. We weren't the only ones casual either. We even got pull a side by the photographer to have our photo on the staircase which we did. 😁

My lot are trying to decide what to take next week. Thanks

It is personal preference and what you as a person feels comfortable. Hope that helps 🙂

Others' mileage may vary. I don't begrudge others their chinos and polos. Back home, I'm in khakis and golf shirts like all those other guys. Why not live life differently for the duration of the cruise? I'll be back, in nightly formal attire, my first time in YC (January, 2022) unless cruising ends up in the ditch again. Should the day arrive when I'm the last one still dressing up, I suppose I'll head over to Cunard. (If they're still around and still attracting any formal attirees, that is.)
