How will new Bahamas covid rules affect sailings?

  • Effective August 6, 2021, those travelling to The Bahamas from other countries who have been fully vaccinated will be required to obtain a negative COVID-19 test (either a Rapid Antigen Test or PCR), taken no more than five (5) days prior to the date of arrival in The Bahamas. The name and address of the lab where the test was performed must be clearly displayed on the test result.

  • Going to make timing of testing even trickier as I am scheduled to visit Bimini on my upcoming Horizon cruise and am flying in a couple of days early.... what a mess!

The travel requirements posted are usually intended for those flying in or sailing in on private boats or ferries.

In the past, any requirements for entry have typically been waived for cruise passengers.  Hopefully the same goes here - if you were healthy enough to sail on a cruise ship with the new protocols, they might allow you in.

Also scheduled to arrive in Bimini on day two then Half Moon Cay day three. I assume if the results of antigen test is presented at embarkation as required showing a negative result from a test taken within the 24 to 72 hours prior to sailing, that should suffice even if the first stop on day two is within the five day requirement and the second stop on day three is not?

Cruising "for the destination/s" remains quite impractical.

NOT gonna change, this year. Maybe next year.

Cruising to be out on the ocean, and to enjoy The Ship as destination

seems to be the practical mindset, for now. Stay on the ship!

Meanwhile my money is still in the Bank

despite copious email offerings that roll in daily.
