Fantasy Class Category 11 Cabins

...to bring:

#1 Bungee cords to hold open the balcony door (just remember to close it when you leave the cabin).

#2 A couple of new or old favorite movies on VCR tape (there's a VCR in the rooms, not a DVD). Even if you don't use it, have the option.

On one cruise we were just exhausted, and wanted to lounge in the room and watch a movie (with the balcony open and sea breeze of course).

On another, after the shows some new friends joined us in the cabin, we ordered yummy room service, and watched a movie.

#3 Room service coffee to enjoy on the balcony in the mornings.

And cocktails to enjoy on the balcony before dinner, watching the sunset, late at night, etc...;)

#4 Please remember to take pictures to share afterwards. I never took any pictures inside of the actual balcony on my Category 12 suite for some reason. And I'd love to see what the view difference is from V4 and V6 (you're closer to the bridge and the stairs leading to the observation deck). That way we can help more CCers in the future.:D

I will try to accomodate with pictures of Cat 12. I am taking darling grandson on Fascination in August. I have stayed in Cat 11 before and found them very nice but not sure if it was worth the extra price what with the Balcony cabins on Veranda being so nice - but it was a really good price at the time. This time I took the Cat 12 for more room for this wonderful 15 year old and all his stuff/and for more privacy. I will take pics and try to get them on this confounded machine somehow in a format that we can all view.:p

Well, I am booked on The Sensation, 6 July in stateroom V19. I am looking forward to my membership to the F.C.V.D.C. Thanks for all the pics

That's a good location.

Have a great cruise, take some pictures, and please give us a review of the cabin when you get back.

One of the bonuses also of the odd numbered cabins, is that there are no doors to the inside cabins on that hallway, so it is even less traffic.

This thread has been a great source of information for me, especially all the pics of the Cat. 12 cabins. My DW & I will be sailing on the Elation next January & have a port side Cat. 12 cabin reserved. I'll be sure to take lots of pics & write a review as well.

Thanks for the info. I'm on the Sensation in January and had originally booked

V15. After looking at the deck plans, again, I moved to V19. I was worried that V15 was to close to the spa above me on the Sports Deck. I am still wondering if I did the right thing. Are my concerns about noise coming from the Sports Deck legitimate? Will being in V19 be quieter the V15? Will my view be blocked any more or less from V19 versus V15. Maybe I should split the difference and move to V17. What do you think? Thanks again for all the info! Dan

I had V15 on Paradise a few years ago. It was a great quiet room. I would take it again in a second.

Never again what?

This just sounds like somebody who had not been aware or prepared, or checked this thread to know what are the great benefits/positives of these cabins...

So, he was probably disappointed, because he was expecting different, and didn't know what to expect.

These cabins are great, especially if you are checking on this thread, and know what to expect before you get there!

I posted the following in it's own thread but at CJW's request I will also post it here.......

Just back from the Ecstasy (9-28-06) and stayed in V38. CJW you were right, V34 would have been less obstructed than V38 but it was not a problem for us. We could still see plenty and enjoyed the fresh air. I think the balcony itself was smaller than any we have had on other ships but the room was about the same as a regular balcony cabin on the newer ships. Since this was a free upgrade I have no complaints. The people next to us V42 (more obstructed) had booked a suite guarantee and I don't think they were too pleased. They said they would pick a cabin next time. I think the people in V34 were a free upgrade too as it was their 1st cruise, retired military and it was their 30th anniversary. I had watched the bookings on this cruise closely and V34 and V42 were the last 2 cabins left.

Priority check in and boarding was a great perk as the lines were fairly long. Being the first color called after self debarking was great too. We were off and to our car in 30 minutes.

The ship itself was in great shape after the refurb and looked all shiney and clean. Our cabin steward seemed to be a notch above some we have had in the past. I assume this was because of being in a suite. Not sure who ordered it but our cabin was decorated with streamers and a centerpiece when we boarded and had a fruit basket too. It was very festive! Both cards only said from "Carnival". I am thinking it might have been the Casino as I emailed them before our cruise with some questions.

I thought the suites would have a bar complete with a bunch of bar glasses but our cabin did not have the glasses but did have a refridgerator . Also it did not have a VCR. Maybe when they did the refurb and installed the plasma TV, they took out those other items as there was not cabinet around the tv anymore.

By the way I saw the casino host giving away gift bags to a few people at the slots on the last day and the lady nearest me that got one also got a free cruise in the bag. She had been playing max coins on nickels machines every time I saw her. He did come over to me and offered me a free drink for my playing. Not a free cruise but I wasn't playing anything close to the amount she was, I just used my card every time I palyed.

All in all it was a good cruise and the cabin was just fine. I took pictures and am including a link showing just how obstructed the view was. Thanks for all the advice.

versley has taken the BEST pictures of the "obstructed view" from any Fantasy Class cabin V38 or V25 ever!

So, any of you thinking of booking these, this is a perfect "heads up" on what to expect...

Compare these to my pics previous in the thread of views from V34 or V23!

Hopefully this helps someone in the future!

And thanks to versley again!

Here is a nice shot I was able to get of the Cat 11 balconies!

It would seem that most are either obstructed (lifeboats) or are not very private. I don't think that I would book one of these. Walking below those cabins you are basically right at the feet of the people sitting out on their balcony, which appear smaller than Cat 8 balconies on other ships.

Does anyone have anything new to add to this thread on the Fascination verandahs cabins since the refurbishment this fall?

At the small chance anyone reads this and has sailed on the Sensation Cat 12 Port side (U102), feel free to offer up pics :)

I've only sailed once before, that was 3 months ago on NCLA Pride of Aloha, and that is very port intensive, so we took a 108 sq ft inside room ;)

Now, I'm taking all 5 of us, so we booked cat 12.

I'm thirsty for information again :)

Could you please tell me if the cat. 11 have a bathtub or shower. I am booked on the fantasy march 1st and would like to know.

thanks

kevin

Most likely it's going to be a shower...

Although a bigger and better one than in the standard cabins on that class of ship...

Check back through all of the posts on this thread, and you should see some pics and info on Fantasy...

Hopefully this helps...

CJW

PS Please take pictures, and report back to this thread when you get back!

Wow! You guys are great! We (10 ladies) have booked 2 penthouse suites on the Inspiration for May for a 4 day pre-wedding cruise. Yes I know, 5 women in 1 room sounds scary ! LOL. But we don't plan to spend alot of time there anyway. Thanks so much for the balcony photos - I was wondering if we would all fit on the balcony and it looks great. Its a shame we can't open the dividers as we booked cabins next to each other. We will be sure to take lots of photos to share. (Well, those that aren't incriminating anyway).

I think you will be able to get the whole group together. That is five on each balcony. Since you all will be very close friends staying five to a room. I sure hope like each other alot.

One bit of advice with five ladies all in one cabin trying to get ready at the same time. It could be a little cramped you might want to try the showers in the gym. They are very nice, much nicer than the suite and lots of clean towels.

Good luck have a happy, healthly safe cruise.

i understand the ship's been very recently refurbished ... we're booked in V11 next month :D i see recent pictures below of Cat. 12, which look beautiful! -- anyone been in the Cat. 11 recently?

Also, does anyone know if it's a shower only, or does it have a tub? i've gotten different answers to that question ...

Thanks so much!
