October cruise to the British Isles

I hope this post is allowed. I am trying to plan a family cruise, 9 people ranging in age from 31-90. 
My real question is if October is okay for cruising to the British Isles?

I’d love to hear from anyone that has made that trip in October and can tell me what the weather was like, and were  the seas 

very rough?

It would be useful if you were to say where you were cruising from

and maybe which line you were using and route   NY to Southampton

will usually be different than  Rio to Southampton.  Weather is always

unpredictable  a recent cruise from California set sail to  Alaska -55 degF and

gales!  so no fight for sunbeds 😉      If there is a roll call for your cruise

maybe ask in there - some  peole do TAs  over and over again.

October is mid-autumn here. You may get the odd sunny day. But there will be rain and chilly weather more often than not. Daytime temperatures are likely to be in the mid-teens.  And, of course, there will be regional variations the further north you are.

 

This is northern Europe so don't have any great weather expectations.

There can also be a huge difference between 1st October and 31st October. 
 

Late September, early October can be very pleasant.  By the end of October the clocks have gone back to GMT (happens on the last Sunday morning) and winter is well on its way.
