seaver Posted August 28, 2021 #1 Share Posted August 28, 2021 So now after your first leg you have to pack up,leave the ship with your bags, take a covid test wait for results and if negative return to the ship to your same room! Why can't they give a test the night before? I hope Silversea does not follow suit.
cruiseej Posted August 28, 2021 #2 Share Posted August 28, 2021 The reason for such policies is to allow them to do a deep cleaning between cruises. I was under the impression Silversea has been requiring passengers to leave the ship and get re-tested on turnaround days -- but not to pack their bags. mw8811 Posted August 28, 2021 #3 Share Posted August 28, 2021 That was incorrect information that they quickly corrected with another email. I have friends who are doing B2B cruises on RCL. They do have to go ashore but don't have to pack between the cruises.
Observer Posted August 28, 2021 #4 Share Posted August 28, 2021 IME, it is common for b2b/turn-around cruises that turn around in US for US immigration authorities to require that all continuing passengers disembark briefly so that there is a "zero count" of guests on the ship. The time in the terminal has rarely been more than 15-20 minutes (unless some guest ignores the requirement to disembark and everyone must wait while that guest is found onboard and disembarked.) Not common -- a requirement for zero count.
nowornever Posted August 28, 2021 #6 Share Posted August 28, 2021 Here is the information we received from Silversea last week regarding our Med. Grand Voyage: IN-TRANSIT GUESTS: To enable our teams to complete the suite cleaning and sanitisation processes, you will be required to leave your suite at 8am. You are invited to either enjoy breakfast or venture ashore —on one of our shore excursions or independently —while waiting to re-enter your suite. Silversea will provide a COVID-19 rapid antigen test for all in-transit guests, which will be performed shore-side, before starting the new voyage. Please note that this is a compulsory requirement from the EU Healthy Gateway Protocols pertaining all cruises operating in Europe.
