Cruise booked under primary passenger’s great offer, now she can’t go. Can we still go without her?

Greetings Cruisers,

We booked a cruise with my mother under an offer she received exclusively.  She is the primary/1st passenger. The cruise is next week and she cannot make the cruise.  There are still 3 of us on the booking, with our own credit cards setup for onboard expenses.  Can we still continue on without her?  Since she won’t make it and it was booked under her offer (which was really good), will we be asked to pay for some penalty without her?  Well she get back her Port fees?

Does anyone have any ideas about how this is handled?

Thank you in advance!

I've seen offers that specifically state that offer is only valid if named party books and sails. While it is true that no shows receive a refund on port fees, I can't tell you for sure. Two obvious scenarios would be if they make the 3 others rebook at current rates or, less likely, refuse boarding without her. I'd be calling Carnival now and find out before I'd head to the pier.

Technically, you aren't able to cruise if that offer was to a specific person - it usually says so in the terms and conditions.

Some people (who?) report that they have boarded without that primary person and never had a hassle.  At least one person has related a story of a friend who got denied boarding because primary person (wife) was not present.

So...YMMV, roll the bones?

Thank you all for your input and assistance.  I was able to get the teams and conditions for the offer and these are the relevant sentences:

“Offer is valid for guests with a qualifying VIFP Club Member number, is capacity controlled, and is not combinable with any other discount or promotional offer.”

“Changes made to the reservation may result in the assessment of cancellation penalties or service fees.”

I will call up Carnival and see what they say, but it seems pretty iffy.

Would love to know the final outcome.

One thing I thought of when I read this question, and you aren't the first to ask, is why wouldn't Carnival charge extra?

That would be a pretty good idea right? You have a casino offer and have no plans to cruise. Find some friends and put them on your booking and then do a no show.
