Slot pull on the Epic

Hi, I am hoping someone can help me.  I am organising my first ever slot pull on the NCL Epic does anyone have any recommendations on which machine to pick?

I picked a machine where the max bet per pull was $5. Each participant put in $20, so four pulls per participant rotating through one pull at a time. It is good to make sure the max bet on the machine you choose is an increment that works with the planned per person ante amount and gives a good number of spins per participant. You want to get the highest possible return on any winning spins. Once everyone had their allotted number of pulls, we decided as a group whether to keep going or cash out.

All of the slot pull groups I've been in have used a Wheel of Fortune $3.00 max spin machine. Everyone throws in $15.00, 5 pulls per player. The possibility of hitting a "SPIN" adds to the excitement. You should plan to do your slot pull right after your meet and greet, or, definitely, immediately after your cabin crawl. People are still interested at that point. Hours later, not so much. Also, on the outside chance that you hit a jackpot, you should decide ahead of time who gets the W-2G and the tax money.NCL does not withhold taxes, but does notify the IRS of your winnings. Good Luck and Happy Sailing!

I took part in a slot pull on an inaugural transatlantic a few years ago, and was lucky enough to hit the jackpot (a great feeling!).
As I have a British passport (I had to run to my cabin to get it to show the casino staff), there was no tax consideration needed, but they made sure by checking cctv that I was the one who'd pressed spin, and hadn't just switched seats or something to avoid someone having to pay taxes.

I have organized several slot pulls on NCL. I agree the wheel of fortune machine works great. A max pull of $3 or $5 works best. An entry fee of $20 is the usual amount. I usually do $15 into the machine and $5 into a side pot. The person that had the largest win on a single pull wins the side pot. The casino usually donates a bottle of wine that goes to the second highest. After all pulls have been completed a vote is taken to cash out and split the amount left or continue.

This is the way that I plan on running the slot pull on our April TA on the Epic. There is information on the spreadsheet.

Thank you.  Do  you buy any change have a sample score sheet that you could share so I have a base to work from?

See you on the TA 🙂

Thank you, I wouldn't have known where to start otherwise

I always talk with the Casino Manager in advance (usually on embarkation Day) to let them know the plans (date, time and anticipated number) and ask for suggestions. This is also when I ask if the casino will be willing to donate something for the slot-pull. Best not to mention the side pot. There have been times that the manager has told me the machine that I wanted to use would not be available at that time because of the number of participants and a different machine was suggested.

From experience, another vote for the Wheel of Fortune "progressive" machines - depending on the size (number of) of the slot pull crowd & money collected for the pool to play, go with the $5 or $3 spin ... each person getting 3 chances on the first round ... there is a pretty good chance that small "wins" will add money back into the pot of money to continue to a 2nd round for some, if not all; and, maybe a 3rd round.  Or, to just stop and divide the winning pot among all the players - the pro's that been doing this got it down to a science, sometimes getting an assistant as helper - lots of fun with the cheering.

Don't forget to speak to one of the casino host on embarkation day and inform her/him of the plan - 1 or 2 bottles of "bubbles" for the top player(s) ... also to avoid conflicting with their tournament scheduled (usually not a problem on the *away/+ ships)

Other thoughts:  Timing-wise, the hosted CC Meet & Mingle/Greet is usually held in the morning (commonly 10 am - lasting 15, informally 30 to 45 minutes) and you can usually go straight to the casino by 11 am with the group, and be done & free for folks to not miss their lunch.  If the CC group is also doing a cabin crawl too, there won't be enough time to allow for both - organizer(s) will need to make some choices ... although, there are fewer interest these days to walk and crawl unless it's one of the newest ships that some haven't been on.  On longer sailing with multiple sea days, we've actually had round #2 and round #3 of the slot pull on subsequent days, piggybacking on the cabin crawl options for some (off-topic: mini private open-house for registered onboard CC members only to see select suites & Haven, hosted by members of the cabin at designated time.)

Thank you for the suggestions.  Unfortunately our sea day is the last day before we disembark so I don't think we are having a meet and greet this time
