namowal Posted September 16, 2021 #1 Share Posted September 16, 2021 Does the Majestic Princess have any quiet places for daytime reading? My go-to on other princess ships was the Skywalker nightclub (which was quiet and rather uncrowded during the day,) but I don't believe Majestic has one. starboardcruiser Posted September 16, 2021 #2 Share Posted September 16, 2021 There is a library across from the Crown Grill on deck 7. I went inside once and I only ever saw other passengers there once in my week aboard (last week). The VIP Lounge next to the casino also seemed pretty quiet (except for a couple of times there were events there); there were TVs with sports playing, but I recall this area being pretty quiet any of the times I walked through.
Rare Musky Ike Posted September 16, 2021 #3 Share Posted September 16, 2021 The Hollywood Conservatory would be a great place, especially if you can get one of the alcoves.
Sea Hag Posted September 16, 2021 #4 Share Posted September 16, 2021 As people said above, the VIP Lounge or the Hollywood Conservatory would be a good bet. But I'll also add that the Majestic seemed to have a lot more "sitting around" places than other ships we've been on. I think you'll be able to find more than one nice place for quiet reading.
FredZiffle Posted September 16, 2021 #5 Share Posted September 16, 2021 You can strike the library from your options. Princess is using it part of the day for some sort of consultations with a staff member. There was one desk with a chair facing it, and two uncomfortable chairs by the door. Not a place for relaxing reading. The bar right across from it (next to Crown Grill) was empty much of the day and was surprisingly quiet and comfortable. That was my go-to spot. That VIP Lounge off the casino was completely empty of passengers the one time I used it. They had the bar open in there as well, so it was like my own private enclave. The Conservatory isn't horrible, I just didn't find the seats terribly comfortable. But, for an hour or so, it isn't bad, and you obviously have some great views. Rare geoherb Posted September 17, 2021 #7 Share Posted September 17, 2021 The outside areas of the Promenade Deck are nice if you want fresh air while you read. The starboard aft one has the smoking section, so I avoided it.

Not a place for relaxing reading. That space in the library on the Majestic Princess is currently being used by the Loyalty & Events Manager (previously known as Captain's Circle Host/ess). There is not enough room to be in compliance with COVID-19 6' distancing requirements for both the Loyalty & Events Manager and the Future Cruise Consultant to occupy their usual area on Deck 5. Hopefully, this is just a temporary anomaly.
aussiecruiser275 Posted September 18, 2021 #9 Share Posted September 18, 2021 In the Hollywood conservatory in the forward part - quite as a church mouse . My wife spent there many a time in one of the cabanas
Katjoy Posted September 18, 2021 #10 Share Posted September 18, 2021 The Hollywood Conservatory is a wonderful calm place to read.
DRS/NC Posted September 21, 2021 #11 Share Posted September 21, 2021 Another vote for the Conservatory. I was there last week in Alaska. It was usually rather quiet except for specific activities or demonstrations (see Patter). If I have one, I usually prefer my balcony (put a pillow on the chair), but the weather in Alaska wasn't "outdoor friendly".
