Tracey/Thom Posted September 18, 2021 #1 Share Posted September 18, 2021 Apologies, but I can't find the answer to this question in my searches. We've always used magnets to hold our program, notes, lanyard, tshirts to the walls of our cruise ships. At Christmas we decorate our door with Christmas magnets. Does anyone know if the Nieuw Amsterdam, aft verandah, can take magnets?

Cruizer Bill Posted September 19, 2021 #3 Share Posted September 19, 2021 Magnets work great on the Nieuw Amsterdam. We used a bunch of them 3 weeks ago. 2
NRFBQN Posted September 19, 2021 #4 Share Posted September 19, 2021 We used magnets a couple of weeks ago, too. We were in a verandah cabin, although not an aft. My experience on numerous ships is that verandah and below were magnetic, but signature suites were not always magnetic.
Rare The-Inside-Cabin Posted September 19, 2021 #5 Share Posted September 19, 2021 I've been in some cabins one half the walls supported magnets and the others didn't. Hard to say and hard to predict which ones will work. Doors have always been magnetic. That's why I always bring magnets and command strips. Bubbleswvwa Posted September 20, 2021 #6 Share Posted September 20, 2021 Also, keep in mind that Neodymium Magnets (rare earth magnets) work much better. Regular magnets don't tend to hold well to the walls and doors

RGEDad Posted September 21, 2021 #8 Share Posted September 21, 2021 Just got off the NA last week (really great to be back on the cruise ship) - I was in a Veranda on deck 6 near the rear set of elevators. The set of Neodymium Magnets worked great - I have a 8 piece set with two types of hooks, Some better for walls, some better for ceilings. I have a 4 piece set just for papers and the like. Really helps to keep the very valuable (and minimal) desk area less cluttered to be able to find things.. Really do need the Neodymium type as the walls are coated and as stated above, regular iron magnets just barely hang on themselves. Before COVID hit, I did have one cruise (It MAY have been on RCL) that did not have metal walls (It was a Junior Suite as I recall). Only place that had good sticking power was the door frame.
