JSUMNER0016 Posted October 6, 2021 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2021 Good morning! I'll be sailing on the Carnival Magic on Monday (10/11). I booked a Carnival Players Club casino offer (in my name - my casino offer, not my guests') that included $500 on-board credit. It was originally going to be my brother and myself in the room, I've even already completed the check-in process for the both of us. Something has come up that he's no longer going to be able to go, but I still plan on sailing solo. Based on what I've read on some other threads, it's best for me to NOT call and cancel him from the reservation, but rather just let him be a no-show - does this sound correct? My other question - for anyone that may have some experience with a similar situation - is regarding the on-board credit. Although the offer was $500 per state room, it appears to be showing as $250 per guest on my cruise documents. I'm assuming that I'll only receive $250 total if my brother is a no-show? Final question - 🙂 - If I purchase the Cheers drink package on board, am I correct in assuming that they will be able to see that there's only one person that actually showed in my room and I would only need to pay for the one single drink package? Sorry if this is something that's already been covered in length - I really did try to search through posts to find some recent examples.

sgttami Posted October 6, 2021 #3 Share Posted October 6, 2021 If you are now going solo, you will receive the full amt. of OBC. Just happened to my friend last week. She got the whole $600 because her husband didn't want to go last minute.
Ilovesailaway Posted October 6, 2021 #4 Share Posted October 6, 2021 I'm jelous. Not only because you're cruising Monday but you're going solo... I have been wanting to try that but I always end up adding someone to my booking. Still fun but I would like to try a room to myself in the future. Have a great cruise

Brew12 Posted October 6, 2021 #6 Share Posted October 6, 2021 You will have to work with customer service to explain the situation. Don't expect the half of the OBC to automatically be transferred to you or for you to be able to pay for the Cheers package for 1. The person not showing is entitled to a refund of the taxes and port fees, which are around $130 per person. Personally, I would wait until I was onboard just to make sure your reservation doesn't get messed up this close to the cruise!
vwrestler171 Posted October 7, 2021 #7 Share Posted October 7, 2021 What you could do is purchase Cheers now for both of you and get his share refunded. That way you get the cheaper price of booking precruise.

vwrestler171 Posted October 7, 2021 #9 Share Posted October 7, 2021 Cheers is 10% cheaper before you board. You book it now and when the roommate is a no show, it is refunded to you, so you still save the money on your portion.

Have a great cruise If cruising solo, NCL, RCI and Celebrity all have solo cabins with no upcharge on their newer builds in their fleets.

I want to be certain they refund if the person is a no show.

Sorry if this is something that's already been covered in length - I really did try to search through posts to find some recent examples. Sorry for being late to answer your thread, but I am going to contradict the conventional wisdom here - and I just (yesterday) went through this scenario. In my case (for correlation), my offer was for a free suite (with deposit going to OBC, which was split between the 2 on the reservation), free play, DOU on board everywhere (me only). I was booked with a female friend who occasionally travels with me. We were checked in for the cruise that leaves from Port Canaveral on 10-16. Tuesday night I learned she cannot go (daughter now has an unexpected surgery). It's too late to swap out names for one of my friends, as we're at T minus 8 days. We had become aware this was a possibility, and I had even asked in other threads how to handle this, and heard, like you have - "just no show the 2nd guest" - however, I'm not comfortable with this approach, as it risks issues at embarkation). I decided to call to have her removed from the reservation. I spoke with the casino services dept (can't make changes with reservations) and told them she was not going. They changed the reservation to a single one, and gave me the choice between having her taxes and fees refunded to my card or applied as additional OBC. (I chose OBC.) She resent my confirmation and it correctly shows 100% of the OBC (including the new) under my name. Pretty uneventful and now the reservation reflects what is actually happening.
