Does changing stateroom category require new booking?

Hi all!

Just curious - If I make a change to stateroom category, will RCCL require me to cancel and rebook, or can it be done on the same reservation number?  I have a WS booked on a Freedom sailing, but spotted a price drop and was thinking about just booking a JS. I've changed staterooms within the same category before without issue, but not a different category. I just don't want to cancel and lose the double points on this sailing.

Thanks so much!

Thanks guys!  I debated on keeping the WS and hoping for a GS on assignment, but I"m thinking I'll probably have better luck saving the money and trying to RoyalUP for the GS.  I'm assuming all suite guarantees are still 90%+ JS when they're assigned?
