Car Rental, Route and Places to see

Are there any car rental companies at the port that we can book prior or do we have to do it while there? 

 

We're 2 adults and two teenage kids. 

 

Suggestions on places to drive to? Best beaches? Sights? Driving route?

Contact Advance Car Rental.  He will deliver to the port. He includes a GPS.

Absolutely book in advance.

Thanks! They just replied with a quote of $175 USD for the day! That's really expensive

Are you sure $175, normally it's $75 (from what others have reported to me).

will be 175 USD for "One day Rent". The car is full insured. NO
DEDUCTIBLE. No extra charges.

Total to pay in cash ( included GPS ) = 175 Dollars ( in cash ! you can
pay when you receive the car or return it back) We don't accept credit
cards! In this price included a cell phone in case you need help or you
want to extend or return the car earlier. Also you will get a map of the
Island and a programmed GPS with all the best beaches of Curacao.

We can deliver the car outside " The Mega Pier" when you walk, search
for the security and find the gate on the yellow wall to come outside. I
will be There with a paper and with your name on it! That you can
recognize me. ( THE MAIN GATE WHERE THE TAXI ENTER TO THE PARKING LOT OF
THE CRUISE PORT.)

Considering it is almost impossible to get a car rental here in December, no less a 1 day rental,  this makes sense.

It would appear December/Holiday rates are $100/day more expensive.
I just reserved a car from Advance for Nov 27 2021 and received the $75/day rate.

Yes, just used them today…$75 inclusive…great company…gps with all the best beaches and sites…..still worth it for the day. You will be free to do whatever…

   Besides the time of the year, it looks like what he had available was an SUV. They're always more expensive. 

   We inquired on a rental for December 1st, and basically got the same letter, but he had a compact car available for $125.00.

   For years we have rented from Avis at the Mega pier (Never loved them, but they were convenient). When I went to the Avis website to check for a car, they didn't show having a location there anymore, so we contacted Advance on recommendations from Cruise Critic.

  It was a very short day in Curacao, so we opted for Pirate Bay Beach club instead.

  We will use him on our next trip. For us, I wound have rental car coverage on my trip insurance as well. I know he rents the car as an insured vehicle, and he is very clear what that covers and doesn't cover. 

 

Curacao is wonderful- have a great trip!
