4xcruisers Posted November 24, 2021 #1 Share Posted November 24, 2021 Any opinion of the Home2 by Hilton at Newark Airport for a one night pre cruise stay. I don't need the Ritz just a good clean place in a safe area. Food close would be fantastic.

It's located in a tangle of highways adjacent to EWR and without ever having seen the inside of the hotel it is not in a location near restaurants so assuming you're flying into EWR and won't have a car this isn't the place for you. Consider staying at one of the hotels on International Blvd. in Elizabeth. They are adjacent to the Mills at Jersey Gardens mall, which has a number of chain restaurants on its property that you can walk to, including Applebee's, Chili's and IHOP . Nothing fancy, but you will be able to have dinner there. Edited November 25, 2021 by njhorseman
4xcruisers Posted November 25, 2021 Author #3 Share Posted November 25, 2021 Actually we are driving and meeting a friend coming from Maryland so we will have 3 cars and and can drive to jersey gardens( where we have stayed before) the room configuration is better here for us. So looking to see if it's clean and in a safe area, similar to jersey gardens

I would say that where you're looking will be safe just because it's inaccessible to anyone without a car. It's almost inaccessible with a car because it's trapped in a jumble of highways off the north side of the airport. Very easy to make an incorrect turn getting into the area. I haven't been in the hotel and hate to rely on what's posted on the internet but a fair percentage of reviews about the place are not exactly complimentary. By the way, since you'll have a car you might want consider having dinner in Newark's Ironbound neighborhood, which has a number of Spanish and Portuguese restaurants, and is generally considered to be one of Newark's safer neighborhoods. Another possibility is the newly renovated Tops Diner, which might be the best diner in the state, if not on the entire East Coast (which in the world of diners means the best diner anywhere!). meadowlander Posted November 25, 2021 #6 Share Posted November 25, 2021 I cannot answer the question you asked. You did state the room configuration suites you better than Elizabeth area hotels but since both parties are driving, I think you could find other Hilton properties such as in Berkeley Heights that would be easier than driving the maze of roads surrounding EWR. New Jersey is notoriously bad for road signs, rely on your gps.
