Warm-Water Diver Posted December 15, 2021 #1 Share Posted December 15, 2021 We are coming in on the NCL Escape Wednesday January 5th 2021 and looking to do our own snorkeling. Was wondering if there are any close by beaches that have good snorkeling? Walkable or need a Taxi?
JohninDC Posted December 15, 2021 #2 Share Posted December 15, 2021 Money Bar offers good snorkeling from the shore, no admission fee, and good facilities, food and drinks. Taxi from the port should be about $12+ each way.
Rare crewsweeper Posted December 16, 2021 #3 Share Posted December 16, 2021 If you are on NCL and dock at Punta Langosta, you might look into Buccanos north of San Miguel. If you reserve ,someone can meet you at the pier. If you dock at the International Pier or Puerto Maya pier, John's suggest of Money Bar or its neighbor Sky Bar would be your best bets.
kdpatte Posted December 29, 2021 #4 Share Posted December 29, 2021 I agree with Money Bar. Lots of excursions are always snorkeling out front of it. They rent equipment if you need it and food and drinks are pay as you go.

Another suggestion, if you are still interested in walking, is to walk north from Langosta to one of the ocean side bars, just out of town, La Monina, Hemingway’s or La Aldea, all close together. All revamped in recent years especially Hemingway’s. We walked several times from town last month to spend time at at these bars. I cannot attest to the quality of snorkeling, (since we only went for the view, and I think a lot of that depends on your experience and expectations) but there were certainly plenty of people snorkeling each time and seemed to enjoy it. Some were doing drift snorkeling and getting in and out at different locations. La Monina had Happy Hour 12-5pm. If they don’t work out easy to get a taxi further north to Bucannos or Playa Azul, both require entrance fee but Playa Azul credited back to food and drink. As with Money Bar some boat traffic and inflatable marker probably recommended if you intend to go far out.
