DaveinCharlotte Posted January 6, 2022 #1 Posted January 6, 2022 We did the American Star Inland Passage in November, and have posted a Review: https://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=683951 Things did not go exactly as planned!
nybumpkin Posted January 6, 2022 #2 Posted January 6, 2022 OMG. When we've sailed off NC on a large ship we've found it a rough go. Thanks for the link to your review!
Suitcasefull Posted January 29, 2022 #3 Posted January 29, 2022 Wow! Thanks for that review! Was sorry to hear you had so many problems. Was afraid Star was showing age but this is first trip with ACL so wasn't sure what to expect. Glad to hear crew is nice but a bit leery of captain's attitude. Scheduled for Charleston to Jacksonville this spring. DH has never sailed on small ship and doesn't do well with lots of motion so hope our route is calmer. Will see what we get!

Am not sure what to expect. Will post back in late March. Waking up this old thread to report in. This time our cruise (Great Rivers of Florida on the Star) was flawless -- none of the problems that plagued us last time. The ship has been spruced up...all exterior rust removed and repainted, new window blinds in the cabins and lounge, new carpets. Electronic door locks now instead of the old metal key locks. New captain, new cruise director (Samantha). 3
Suitcasefull Posted April 5, 2022 #6 Posted April 5, 2022 Star also got new lounge furniture last week. Can't say I liked it or found it comfortable. Who was the captain on your trip? Andy Saine was our fantastic hotel director and Sam our cruise director.
BaumD Posted April 5, 2022 #7 Posted April 5, 2022 Andy is still Cruise Director. Aimee is new cruise director. Young, engaging, talented. Hard to believe this is her first week as CD.

Aimee is a personable young woman, seems very capable and should do a good job.

Don't know if vacation or leave or what. I see Aimee was on yours also so guess she'd trained for a while. Tish was our housekeeping manager so that's new from your list, too. We didn't get a complete list like that; just a paragraph a day about some of the crew. Edited April 8, 2022 by Suitcasefull
