The other thread about this cruise mentions serious issues with leaking pipes,  extremely cold public areas etc, caused by the cold weather.

What has your experience been of these issues ?

Good question. Maybe 18 hours or so of being cold OUTSIDE the cabin. A sweater was sufficient for me to stay comfortable enough. The lower decks were impacted greater as the draft from the gangway was pulled in. Came across one leak which was sorted along  with the other issues they'd encountered.

Kudos to the amazing gangway crew and security who had to endure the bitter cold that day.

Day 31 / 67

Day 15 Norway.

Good morning and thanks for following.

Have watched sail in to Kristiansund harbour just now on bridge cam. We're still manoeuvring. The turning ship in a relatively small space was impressive. I can perfectly understand why rough weather would cause concern. Tendering not required!!! Yayyy!!!!

Have had a fab time this afternoon. Glad the excursion was complimentary as I honestly heard very little commentary. 23 was too big of a group. Stanley from the Excursions Team was super helpful and supportive as it was slippery underfoot and I hadn't put on the grips 🤦‍♀️

The walking, ferry rides and fish museum were good. Sunny the whole time but no time to shop. Still have Krone over.

Kristiansund sits on four islands and is founded on bacalao - dried salted cod, known locally as "klippfisk".

Walk to the old port. Wooden boats still repaired there.

Walk to the ferry.

Bronze statue of the "Klipfish wife" to commemorate the workers on the klippfish rocks, sculpted by Tore Bjørn Skjølsvik. The statue was a gift to the city on its 250 year anniversary, and was unveiled by HRH Queen Sonja in 1992 with three genuine klippfish workers present.

Klippfish = dried and salted cod, sometimes referred to as salt cod or saltfish or salt dolly, is cod which has been preserved by drying after salting. Cod which has been dried without the addition of salt is stockfish..... more fish info later.

The Sundbåten boat / ferry- The world's oldest public transport service in uninterrupted use. Part of Kristiansund's cultural heritage and the world's oldest means of public transport still in use.

Brygga shows the development of clipfish history in Norway from the 18th century until the post-war period. Until recently, there has been production of klipfish here. There is a very pungent smell of klipfish and salt in the walls. Several photo exhibitions that show life and the production and export took place in the traditional way.

Walking back to the ferry.

Stanley, our Saga excursions guide, has gone above and beyond taking care of me and us. He has Werther's Originals, as does every Saga guide on every excursion!

When I got back I was desperate for a hot liquid refreshment so used room service for soup! I asked for a large bowl!

Day 31 / 67

Day 16 Norway

Good morning and thanks for following

A number of passengers have been requested to return to their cabins this morning. The Navigation Officer is unable to give his talk today as he is isolating.

A room with a table outside usually means an isolating passenger.

Went to the multidenominational service this morning and gave my leftover Krone to the Mission to Seafarers.
