Upgrade offer PH to JS

I'm 42 days out from my 5 day Elation Cruise, I checked my planner today and had an upgrade offer from Porthole Empress Deck to Junior Suite Balcony Verandah Deck (Obstructed View) for $270. Considering that the upgrade includes perks like priority boarding, and a location that I love, I took the offer.  Got the last JS on that deck . If your cruise sails soon, check your planner - you may have an upgrade offer.

That’s a good price and an attractive upgrade offer.  The last I heard, JS cabins weren’t part of priority boarding, but I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong.

Heck yeah, I would have taken that offer too - that's a great deal!!  Our offer is upgrade from deck 16 Lido balcony to Ocean Suite on deck 9 - for $600.  😂  No thank you, I wouldn't move even if it were free, love our current cabin location.

They said in the offer that those perks are included, and my booking and order details now say "suite" (with gratuity charge for suite listed - the slightly higher grats are not a problem because we generally give more than the minimum). One the Carnival site, the perks for the JS are listed as exactly the same as other suites. Sweet!

We just got the offer in yesterday on the Elation to go from Balcony to Grand Suite. With canceling some other paid for items that the suite perks would be redundant for, we closed it for just under $400! Super stoked and excited. The first time the upgrade fairy has come a calling.

I'll be on the Elation on Monday, I check my booking daily, nothing. I even called about a week ago after hearing a lot of people getting upgrades, they said nothing was available. I think I'm being punished b/c I got a good casino offer, $500 obc. I've also not gotten any of the great offers I hear a lot of people getting. I've decided not to book any future cruises to see if I get offered any great deals. I have some friends that don't gamble as much as I do and they've gotten multiple offers of $25 rooms. I'm still trying to figure it out.

You might be on to something. Our offer was off of a straight booking (albeit twice cancelled previously due to COVID). Not sure if they pull from the same lists when sending out upgrade offers, the casino may very well have their own allotment and upgrade setup.

Where in your planner would you see any upgrade offer from Carnival? Is it under the things to do or a notification of some kind? Just curious... just in case. 😊

Be careful of those "great deals" to upgrade. We had a casino fare of $25 each for an inside with "free drinks in the casino". When I called about upgrading to a balcony if possible because of Covid, the Customer service lady (was amazing!) was able to get us a balcony for $159 more with $200 of OBC!! Great deal!

 

What I didn't realize was that nullified my "free drinks in the Casino" offer. The Casino host worked it out that I could still get the "free drinks", but limited that to 15 drinks. Turned out to be not a problem for us. We kept the $200 OBC and probably didn't get close to the 15 drink limit. Just something to be aware of when you make a change to your original deal.... there could be consequences you're not aware of.

I got a call last week to upgrade to a wrap around balcony vista suite on the Miracle from inside for $250 for a 4 day cruise next week

My online Planner said I had an upgrade offer available!....but when I clicked on it, it said "sorry, all gone."  

 

With tears in my eyes I called my PVP and she got me moved to a balcony from an oceanview on the Sunrise for $95 all-in.   Score!
