Oceanview Windows on QE or QM2

Halloo!

I searched this forum for an answer, but could not quite find it.  Perhaps an odd question, but the windows in the Oceanview cabins on either the QM2 or the QE ... do they open?  I like the idea of the ocean wind, but don't need a full balcony.

TIA :)

Welcome to CC

Never heard of outside staterooms having windows that open.
A balcony stateroom enables one to enjoy the sights, sounds and breeze of the ocean.

One does not have the balcony door “open” for any period other than to access balcony or stateroom, then immediately closed.

If the ship is underway.

Was informed by a Senior Officer that one should never have the door “open”, regardless if sailing or not, as it could cause problems with the deck’s air conditioning.  Also, when sailing “open” some other staterooms could hear an annoying whistle in addition to potential air conditioning problems.

As there is a difference of opinion on open doors, no doubt there will be a qualified ship’s engineer on CC to give the definitive Cunard answer.  Meanwhile, one will stick with information from a ship’s professional.

QM2 oceanview staterooms (aside from the newer singles on 2 and 3) are on 4, 5 and 6 (so not any closer to the waterline than sheltered balconies) but there really aren't many of them. I think they go faster than even my preferred BZ forward sheltered balconies.
