mlink87 Posted February 11, 2022 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2022 So question, really looking forward to our cruise coming up on the 27th on the Edge. Did anyone else get an email regarding a change to itinerary. I’m so confused… Original Itinerary FLL Nassau Day at Sea Costa Maya Cozumel Grand Cayman Day at Sea FLL Celebrity App Itinerary FLL Nassau Day at Sea Costa Maya Cozumel Honduras Day at Sea FLL Email we received last night itinerary FLL Nassau Day at Sea Costa Maya Cozumel Day at Sea Bimini FLL I’m so confused where we are going since the app still shows Honduras and the email states Bimini…
Virginia100 Posted February 11, 2022 #2 Share Posted February 11, 2022 I just booked 3/26 Reflection and Bimini seems the new alternative. Great beaches and water.
kearney Posted February 11, 2022 #3 Share Posted February 11, 2022 Well Grand Cayman is not accepting cruise ships...they were to have them beginning sometime in Feb and then delayed it. I don't recall Honduras before.... perhaps is is new and they could not get things up and running for the sailing... Bimini has recently appeared as an alternative for some ports. A lot of Islands have periodically stopped allowing passengers to come ashore because of covid... so that could be the reason for Honduras change.... In a way it is like sailing during hurricane season..you never really know where you are going.
39august Posted February 11, 2022 #4 Share Posted February 11, 2022 Honduras is Roatan. Very misleading to word it as Honduras. That is the mainland; Roatan is a Honduran island.
Team Stag Posted February 11, 2022 #5 Share Posted February 11, 2022 I would go by the email. It is direct communication from Celebrity. The app regularly takes time to update to schedule changes. With that being said, don't be surprised if it changes again even up to the day of departure. At least that was how it was on our Nov cruise. stormy_weatherman Posted February 11, 2022 #6 Share Posted February 11, 2022 It is most likely Bimini over Roatan. I just sailed the same itinerary on the Edge last week and we went to Roatan, which seems to have been the frequent replacement for GC recently. That must be programmed into the app already, but official communication from X should be most trusted.
sun bum Posted February 11, 2022 #7 Share Posted February 11, 2022 Just sailed last week on the Edge. Very few passengers got off for Roatan. You needed a Celebrity excursion o eave the ship. Roatan is very unsafe now. Celebrity probably is changing port to Bimini.

Who told you Roatan is "very unsafe now"?

This area in Honduras is miles away from Roatan. As Roatan is an island it is generally considered safe. The places the cruise ships bring us to are generally considered safe. The last thing they want is to lose a customer, either through kidnapping or dissatisfaction of the cruise port. Realize that the crime listed is also common in some of the areas we live in here in Canada, the USA and GB but the state department never says avoid travel to American Cities do they.
