Getting to the airport in SF after cruise

We will be arriving back to San Francisco on a Thursday June 30. We will be carrying off our luggage so we hope to clear customs around 7:30.  What is the best mode of transportation to get to the airport and what time could we expect to be at the airport?  Thanks

"Best"? Private helicopter. Limo sipping champagne. Lacking those, Uber or taxi, allowing 30-40 minutes for the travel. BART (subway) is good...just requires a 1 mile flat walk to the nearest station, as discussed here frequently.

 

Is your real question how early a flight you can book? Immigration would be any hang up clearing the ship, not Customs. Fog and currents can slow docking occasionally. 7:30 would be the absolute earliest I would think you could be off the ship, lean more towards 8am. I wouldn't book a flight before 11am, assuming everything went near perfectly.
