kelib Posted February 17, 2022 #26 Share Posted February 17, 2022 (edited) We were on January 30, on first night they were offering 30% off. Once we got there they also offered an all you can eat for a flat $40. 5 of us, we got 2 towers that included lobsters (usually $55 each) dragon rolls, , shrimp teriyaki, lobster rolls and desert. We could have had more but we were all stuffed. (I could have missed a few items they were coming so fast) Our ship only had 750 passengers so not sure if that had anything to do with it, but it was a great way to start the cruise. Slight correction…it was on Raw on 5 on the Edge. Have only been on the Edge so forgot that there is a different place on the other ships. Denny01 Posted February 18, 2022 #27 Share Posted February 18, 2022 My understanding of ‘fresh’ and ‘sushi-grade’ may not be exact, but there isn’t any govt or official definition for ‘sushi-grade’ unlike beef meat gradings. It’s a marketing term. And as to ‘fresh sushi’, I believe from reading and talking to local chefs that the only true fresh fish used for sushi is tuna and farm salmon. All the rest have to be flash-frozen, in order to kill the parasites. Nice to be talking about ‘those things’ on a nice ‘Raw on 5’ thread! But the point is, most all sushi items are flash frozen. Which, by the way, provides excellent quality fish and other seafood items. We dine on good fresh fish, living on the Gulf Coast because we have commercial fishing here so our local restaurants cook using fresh fish and list what is the ‘fish of the day’ local-caught and fresh. Enough on all this technical stuff!! Love Raw on 5 and highly recommend it. Den
