alwaysflyin Posted February 24, 2022 #101 Share Posted February 24, 2022 I am nervous about this because I am taking an unvaccinated 10 year-old on a cruise on 3/13. I've been worried that they would tell us that she couldn't cruise. However, I've now decided that that would create such terrible PR that they can't do it at this late of a date. Fingers crossed anyway.

They already have our info so guessing it is generic email to pick up kids. My two grandkids are not vaccinated- can they be kicked off their cruise scheduled to leave in three weeks? How would they decide? what does the email say? For sailings out of FL the website still says : Q Can I travel with an unvaccinated kid under the age of 12? What are the differences in the cruise experience if my child is unvaccinated? A We look forward to welcoming the whole family aboard. Currently, COVID-19 vaccination is recommended, but not required, for children age 11 and under. Teens and tweens age 12 and up must be fully vaccinated to sail. smokeybandit Posted February 24, 2022 #104 Share Posted February 24, 2022 We have a cruise in 3.5 weeks and received no email. But we are checked in with our son's vax card validated. But RC isn't typically that targeted in their emails. Unless they're only sending it out for certain sailings

She may have by now but is at work. We're sailing on 3/13 with unvaxxed kids out of NY and we haven't gotten an email.

If anything, they'll stop bookings.

While I don't think they should be worried, it is a possibility that a sailing could have capacity issues for unvaccinated. I think that's why they are asking people to verify vaccination status on upcoming sailings.
smokeybandit Posted February 24, 2022 #108 Share Posted February 24, 2022 I have a cruise next month that they aren't allowing you to book for more than 2 people, so they may be doing some pre-emptive "no more kids" maneuvering.

I agree that this is what they’re doing, but it may not accomplish what they’re hoping. On March 18th wonder: - 3 and 4 people says not available to book. 2 Owners suites and 2 aquatheaters available so available rooms do have capacity of 4 - 2 adults can book. - the kicker: 1 adult and 1 child age 10 can book. my guess is Royal IT doesn’t have the capability to limit under 12 and is trying to back door it. Anecdotally, in-laws have gotten a casino offer for this cruise.

Joyce That is very definitely state-specific. When I grew up in NJ and when I lived in VA, Spring Break always coincided with Easter, but here in Arizona it's most definitely March. When we've traveled over Spring Break since moving here, we always run into people from Utah, Texas, New Mexico, Oregon, and the occasional Californians. But basically you'll see spring breaks happening for the next 5 or 6 weeks rolling, between colleges and kids. (My kids are 4th and 6th grades, and they're out March 4-14. Next town over is March 12-27.) But waiting until Easter would make absolutely no sense for Spring Break for us, because the last day of school here is May 19. It would be kinda silly to have a random full week off from school when there is only a month left at that point anyway. March just makes so much more sense because Spring Break begins right after 3rd quarter ends, and right before 4th quarter begins. I noticed the same thing for our April Oasis cruise. I was trying to do my periodic ghost booking to see if we could benefit from repricing, and it told me that no cabins for 3 people were available (we have 2 in one and 3 in another).
