Rare DragonOfTheSeas Posted February 27, 2022 #1 Share Posted February 27, 2022 Assuming our Baltic cruise will move forward this summer and that the ports remain the same. [except St Petersburg] All of this is a big assumption, but I would like to gather as much information as I can. We are scheduled to port in Visby, Sweden on August 7, 2022. I see that Visby is famous for its medieval festival each August and that the dates for 2022 are August 7-14. This is a link to some information. Welcome - Medieval Week on Gotland (medeltidsveckan.se) Has anyone attended this in the past? I am not sure if there will be that much going on the first day of the festival--but it is a weekend day. Festivals are usually very active on weekends. I see they have a Medieval Pass good for events/activities for the whole week. [~$50 for seniors] Do they usually offer a day pass? How far is the dock from the walled city? This year the theme is fantasy. Sorry for so many questions. 🙄
Desdichado62 Posted February 27, 2022 #2 Share Posted February 27, 2022 (edited) I have never been there during Medeltidsveckan but expect it to be very crowded. Distance is about 1.2 km (1200 meters) from the cruise terminal. Did read the Q/A now and there will be day passes as well but I can't really find any information about it or where/how to buy it. They say their website that many of the events can get fully booked to booking in advance is recommended. Possible at the visitors centre at https://www.google.com/maps?q=Paviljongsplan is somewhere where you can buy tickets. https://www.google.se/maps/dir/''/''/@57.6346636,18.2884839,301m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x46f7af2fe04fd6c3:0x4b4956f3edeb71c9!2m2!1d18.2746758!2d57.6294917!1m5!1m1!1s0x46f7af9768339fb7:0xf9e45fe4d53f18a5!2m2!1d18.2880674!2d57.6349066!3e2 Edited February 27, 2022 by Desdichado62

I saw on one site that the deadline to submit forms to participate is not until tomorrow. So, I doubt they are not sure of the details. We look forward to being there during this festival. We hope our port stop is not changed. I am sure they will be deleting St Petersburg and that may result in differing port days.
