Drinks on us while in Casino from Galveston

Hi we had an offer for Drinks on us while in the casino.

I thought I read somewhere awhile back that this offer is not good on the first day of sailing out of Galveston.  Which puts us in a bit of a spot whether we should just buy the drink package.

Anyone have any experience with how the drinks on us in the casino works, do they have our name in the system already and you just go up to the bar or wait for the server and she looks it up?

Any thoughts

We sailed out of Galveston in January this year. We had the drinks on us offer and used it as soon as casino was up and running. Just let the servers know you have the drinks on us. But it is usually already in the system! Enjoy!

Just an FYI, the drink package doesn't start until day 2 when sailing out of Galveston.

Wow so even if you have the package you can't use it the first day!

BP,

Cruises from here don't charge for the first day. The package starts at 6:00AM on the second day. It's a combination of TABC law and Carnival enjoying the profits from a heavy drinking day on embarkation.

If you have free drinks while gambling, you can get drinks when the casino opens about 6-7pm(international waters). The selection will be limited until 6am because of texas liquor laws.

If you have the cheers package it will not start until 6am. I know it's confusing, as you can only get drinks and smoke while actively gambling at a machine or table, no free drinks from to bar must order from attendant. Good luck you will be able to figure it out.

This subject has caused so much confusion here that when we sailed out of Galveston on the Breeze the end of January, we went to the bar in the Casino and asked them to tell us exactly how our drink plan would work (and they are happy to scan your card and confirm for you).

We had DOU (everywhere on the ship) and were told it was available from the time we boarded, from any bar or restaurant.

Not to be confused with "Cheers" which is not available the first day in Galveston.

Also, if we'd had the DOU package (only while playing in the casino) we would have had to wait until the casino opened (of course) but it is also available the first night.
