canderson Posted March 19, 2022 #1 Share Posted March 19, 2022 Actually came up with a Q that I am pretty sure has never been addressed. If one 'gifts' OBC to a cruiser's shipboard account, is any unused portion refundable? It can be purchased in $25 increments.
CHEZMARYLOU Posted March 19, 2022 #2 Share Posted March 19, 2022 Since someone paid for the OBC it should be refundable. Guessing it would go back to the guest's credit card.
Rare DCPIV Posted March 19, 2022 #3 Share Posted March 19, 2022 It's refundable OBC.
canderson Posted March 19, 2022 Author #4 Share Posted March 19, 2022 Replies appreciated. Figure we'll add some to the "kid's" account for our next cruise.
Fouremco Posted March 19, 2022 #5 Share Posted March 19, 2022 Back when the Canadian dollar was going through an ongoing period of decline against the US dollar, I gifted myself a good amount of OBC for several cruises. I had no intention of using it onboard, instead cashing it in at the end of the cruise. At that time, Celebrity offered a better exchange rate than I could get here, so it was quite a beneficial method for currency exchange. Celebrity subsequently changed its approach to setting its exchange rate, and the Canadian dollar stabilized, so this only worked for a couple of year.
