Hello St Thomas!

 

The night bridge officers were not listening to Waze and we docked an hour late. The Captain extended the port call 1 hour, so there is no loss of port time.

Yesterday, leaving the Dominican Republic, the Captain had the bow thrusters running all the way out of the harbor, keeping us well away from the sides of the channel, to avoid a repeat “incident”.

You can find the daily puzzles and trivia in Card Room / Library. There are also board games. And books that can be checked out.

Where were you when you took the photos from St. Thomas, in particular the picture of the as of yet to open Marriott Frenchman's Reef.

 

in the photo looks like it is doing a lot better than when we were in St. Thomas, just before Covid hit the world. The Marriott Frenchman's Reef has been closed since Irma back in 2017. It is scheduled to open June of this year.

I'm actually a bit surprised that the taxi rates (at least the one to downtown) haven't gone up the past few years.

 

The last time we were in St. Thomas we used our shore excursion credit and bought passes for the Skyride to Paradise Point and bought really expensive drinks to enjoy while looking at the view.

Everyone’s first priority on a cruise is to stay fit. The Pulse Fitness Center is open from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm (which is why you never want a room under the treadmills). 
 

The classes are still really limited

By now, you have seen that the Escape cancelled again and there will be a lot of additional passengers on your cruise. The crew of the Encore is handling the challenge this week flawlessly.

The Bird was last in St Thomas in 2019 before the pandemic shutdown. Then, there were a lot of blue tarps covering roofs. Fast forward two years, most of those are gone.
