I probably can't say the name but it starts with a W and has a telephone receiver in it's bubble logo. You still need to buy wifi access to use that app. And with wifi access you don't need the app, or any app, you can use wifi calling and texting directly.

You have to buy a wifi package to use Whatsapp, Skype, Messenger, Viber, Kik, imo, Facetime, etc. Or you connect to Cellular at Sea and use them, but your bill will probably approach that of the cruise itself. 1
ClemenceGinger Posted July 7, 2023 #28 Share Posted July 7, 2023 (edited) I totally get your frustration with the limited options for using messaging apps on cruises. It can be a bummer to have to purchase a pricey Wi-Fi package or deal with the exorbitant costs of using Cellular at Sea. I remember struggling to reply to a message in Google Chat recently, but luckily I stumbled upon this article from https://anytechstuff.com/how-to-quote-and-reply-to-a-specific-message-in-google-chat/ on how to reply in Google Chat, which provided some helpful tips. It might be worth checking out as an alternative to your apps. Edited July 7, 2023 by ClemenceGinger

Welcome to CC. In case you didn't know, on some ships, you can get some inbound internet traffic without a Voom package, but nothing outbound.
lindsay0526 Posted July 11, 2023 #30 Share Posted July 11, 2023 They no longer charge the $1.99/day fee to use the chat feature. Personally I think this was a dumb thing to implement anyways because families and friends shouldn’t have to pay to communicate with each other on the ship. https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2023/01/09/royal-caribbeans-onboard-messaging-system-now-free-heres-how-it-works
