Researching Alaska cruises with NCL.
inside passage.

Noticed that  Ketchikan is now Ward Cove in parentheses.

Looks like port is 7 miles away from town.

We used to just be able to walk off ship into town when docking at Ketchikan.

What a shame.

Does NCL charge for this shuttle bus ?
The shuttle to Juneau was always free, is NCL charging for that?
I do know Victoria has shuttle buses to town for a fee.

Thanks for any insight.

Last September the shuttle to Ketchikan was free.  I doubt that will be the case this year, but we shall see. The shuttle from AJ Dock in Juneau was also free as it has been each time I’ve been to Juneau.  As far as Victoria, I believe there is always a charge for shuttle to town.  It’s a nice walk though.

The first sailing to Ward Cove the transport bus to town had an $8 charge.  There were not enough buses and there were many complaints, they then stopped charging for the transport and got more buses.  This year, no one knows if there will be a charge.

The shuttle from the AJ dock in Juneau to the tram station has always been free up until now.

The gondolas in icy strait from there NCL dock to the main dock were free last year. They are supposed to open the gondola to the mountain top entertainment area this year (but it is unknown if they are on schedule and whether there will be a fee).

As stated above, the status of Ketchikan is unknown.  Part of the issue is that they pay a drop fee for dropping off passengers in town. For our cruise, shore ex we’re not allowed to drop in town for that reason.

Skagway is still at the main dock area,,, for now.

Depending upon which dock your ship uses, it can be quite a long walk into town.  Shorex buses usually will pick you up near your ship's gangway, but sometimes will either drop you off in town or stop at the town-end of the pier when returning, possibly leaving you quite a walk back to your ship.
