Cove balcony, 6th deck balcony noise. Magic

Recommended Posts

Oddly enough, we were recently on the Magic. I was in a cove on deck 2 and another couple were in a deck 6 interior. We had some mechanical noise that would wake us in the cove. The other couple actually moved to another cabin because they heard and felt bass from the music playing on deck 5.

If you book a cove forward of the midship elevators you should be fine.  We have been on forward most port side cove on Magic and forward most starboard cove on Breeze and they were some of the quietest cabins we have had.  We are booked in a forward cove on upcoming Horizon cruise.  They are some of our favorite cabins--just have to be sure what is above you.  If you book the aft coves there is a good possibility you will catch noise from the galley.

On the Vista in January we had a balcony on deck 6. No issues with noise, but we were right above the smoking area on deck 5. As long as there was a breeze blowing the smoke away from us it was O.K. but a few still times we got a lot of smoke. We did get to see security going through the ashtrays after smelling pot down there! Didn't see them haul anyone off.

I'm booked in this cabin in June!  Did you hear any noise from the galley?

Not a peep.

Also, you'll like the built in foot rest and drink holder on the balcony:

In our experience the music "noise" on Magic is worse than on Dream or Breeze -- it used to be anyway -- so yeah, stateroom location is even more important.

Deck 6?  I usually like to go one up (to deck 7) just to further reduce the noise potential from Promenade aft. Deck 7 is a good compromise for us, pretty much in the middle of most venues we're interested in.

On Dream class we prefer a very aft cabin (near the end) because we enjoy looking straight down on water as opposed to the promenade deck. The rearmost balconies also get us even further from the noise.
