Cruisingrampy Posted April 18, 2022 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2022 Looking to get opinions on best room for a scandanavian cruise? Is a balcony worth it since youre stopping basically everyday?
hallasm Posted April 18, 2022 #2 Share Posted April 18, 2022 Might very well depend on your itinerary and month - some ports have scenic cruising early morning or late evening where a balcony can be useful - and in July/August it can be sunny and nice to sit at a balcony. WESTEAST Posted April 20, 2022 #3 Share Posted April 20, 2022 (edited) As an example of a scenic cruise was when we sailed into Stockholm through their beautiful archipelago of some 30000 islands. We enjoyed sitting on our veranda as we sailed by the islands early that morning in our pjs (it was in June). An amazing welcome to Sweden. I hadn't anticipated it; I had a balcony cabin only through a successful upgrade bid. Later in the cruise the weather wasn't as good and the cruising wasn't as scenic (we returned to Stockholm during the night).
alwayscruisetime Posted July 21, 2022 #5 Share Posted July 21, 2022 My husband's a big proponent of indoor cabins, both for the lack of light, which helps him sleep, and for the cost savings, but we were really glad to have a balcony on our 2-week Baltic/Scandinavian cruise earlier this month. A lot of the ports involve a lengthy sail in (and out) where you pass by picturesque little islands and lighthouses. Also, it was light from 4:30AM to 10:30PM, so you had lots of daylight to enjoy those sights! 1
hal2008 Posted July 29, 2022 #6 Share Posted July 29, 2022 If you are on a Baltic cruise this year, it is easy to secure a cheap upgrade from ridiculously cheap internal cabin. Most ships are running at 30 to 40 pct capacity.
