Mr. Sancho's Beach Club in Cozumel Question

Hello:

I'm wondering if anyone has recently visited Cozumel via a Cruise Ship and gone to Mr. Sancho's Beach Club. I will be on Mardi Gras in July and would like to go to Mr. Sancho's, I was there before covid and had a great time.  I would like to go there during our Cozumel stop, but I want to be and feel safe, just wondered what the experience was like for anyone who may have recently gone to Mr. Sancho's.  Any feedback you could share would be helpful as their website did help at all.   Thank you.

My questions are:

1. Were you able to exit the ship, find a taxi and go?

2. What was the price per person for the taxi?

3. Once you got to Mr. Sancho's were there any covid restrictions, was the entrance still free?

4. Has anyone Parasailed at Mr. Sancho's

5. Were the wait staff those serving drinks and food wearing mask?

1. Were you able to exit the ship, find a taxi and go?

Yes, but be prepared for a wait depending on when your ship arrives and how many are in port.

2. What was the price per person for the taxi?

Starts at $17 flat fee for up to 4 people one way

3. Once you got to Mr. Sancho's were there any covid restrictions, was the entrance still free?

Mask to enter, entrance was not free and you needed to have a reservation as it's almost sold out every day. Reservations require a deposit up front with the remainder paid upon arrival. Back in April, a cab wouldn't even take you to Mr. Sancho's if you didn't have a reservation because the line to get in was already so long.

4. Has anyone Parasailed at Mr. Sancho's

No

5. Were the wait staff those serving drinks and food wearing mask?

Yes

If you want a Sancho's like experience, I recommend looking at Nachi Cocum. It's on the same beach as Sancho's, but not as populated (only 130-150 people MAX) for the same price and better food and drink. You can book the same on-site excursions like snorkeling or parasailing.

Great. This is good information!  I had not heard of Nachi Cocum. I wanted to spend 2 hours at the beach and 2 hours  souvenir shopping for t-shirts and magnets. I'll look up Nachi Cocum and maybe plan to go there instead.  I didn't want to get an all day pass, I just wanted about 2 hours of beach.

Thank you so much!!

Yes

We were just there on January 24 and March 30 of this year.

1. Yes and taxis were plentiful

2. Depends, we got a better deal if we shared a cab, $5 per person each way.  This last time we rode by ourselves and it was around $20 each way.

3. No vivid restrictions, but as someone else replied you need a reservation to get in, and pay balance due at checkin.

4. DW thought about it in January but didn't.  Wanted to go in March but it was too windy and not offered.

5. No masks anywhere at the facility, either by guests or staff.

Nachi is quiet and relaxing, especially compared to Sanchos. It is also only SO for about $55 each - great food, drinks and service, but not typically a place for just  a couple of hours.

You might look at Paradise Beach which offers a pay as you go option with a $5 per person admission fee. Or try the Money Bar, even closer and no admission fee - but no real beach (good snorkeling from the shore makes up for it).

Thank you!  I did read an online article about Paradise Beach, that's in option also.

Agree with John Paradise is more like Sanchos than Nachi, if that is the type of location you are looking for, and you don’t want AI.

Seems strange if Sanchos has gone exclusively AI and reservations only - I would email directly and check if you are interested - numbers may have  been restricted due to Covid or because it was Spring Break. They have done that temporarily before due to some problems many years ago at Spring Break.

Officially,  Quintana Roo is at green, and has been for some time , - masks required in public transport (taxis), but many cruisers don’t comply.

official taxi price will be listed on the board at dispatch - always a good idea to confirm before leaving.

Not sure what kind of safety concerns you have - personal/health?

I know others answered, but just wanted to also say our experience. We were just there last week.

1. Yes, easy to do, right outside the shopping center there.

2. We paid $23 for the 5 of us to go in a van.

3. No restrictions, and it's not free. We booked in advance and they pulled up our reservations easily.

4. We didn't do that, so can't comment on that.

5. Yes, they were wearing masks, but we didn't need to.

When we got to Cozumel, there was already a Celebrity ship in port. And then a Royal Caribbean was coming in as got off the ship. So we left right after we docked, getting the Mr. Sanchos's around 9:30. We were escorted to one of the lounge beds and given the table & umbrella set in front of it. It was back from the beach, which was nice. We were at the end of our cruise and most of us had gotten plenty of sun by then. LOL!

We had great service from Norberto the entire time! Super attentive and quick. We all had some drinks, lots of food, and just general relaxation. It was never crowded, never loud, just some simple music playing. We were asked once if we wanted massages, but none of us did that. They did offer I think 2 other things for "sale" - the bracelet guy and the mariachi band guys, that was it.

If we go back to Cozumel we'll definitely be going back for the day!

Went last week and was great! No covid restrictions and Carlos waited on us like we were royalty. Taxi was ten per person for  one way. Very easy to get out of port and back. It was a great day. Nachi is great for adults but for a lively atmosphere Sanchos is my choice. Kids did the water toys and the banana boat ride. We had fun! Food was awesome also

The price for cabs is set for up to four people, then additional for additional people.

So if two people take a $20 ride, it'll be $10 a person.

If Four take the same cab, it'll be $5 per person.

The prices are printed on lasrge signs at the taxi stand. (at least at Carnival's Puerto Maya pier)

Each beach club on the entire island and many other destinations are all listed on the signs.

Thank you all for such great information.  I visited Cozumel many years ago. 10 of us was shown a picture of a beach with restaurants, water sports, etc.  We paid $15 each to go to this beach club and it was nothing like the picture they showed us.  There were flies and bee's all over the bar and food area. We ended up paying a taxi to take us back to the port. Once back at port, one of the workers suggested

we go to Mr. Sancho's and we loved it.  We just don't want to stay all day, maybe 2 hours.

Thanks again and for those who have a cruise scheduled, have a wonderful time.

Be sure that you can get in to Sanchos with the Pay as you go option - otherwise the AI price is pretty steep for just a 2-hour visit.  For a quick beach couple of hour beach break, I would look at Paradise Beach (they push AI but still offer PAYG for about a $5 admission fee) or the Money Bar (no fee, good snorkeling from the shore, but no sandy beach).

Not certain how the sargassum seaweed issue is in Coz.

My understanding is that it is at it's very worst ever across the water in Playa and Puerto Morales.  Terrible smell.   Last time we were in PM they were raking it up and using some sort of tractor pull.

My understanding is that is currently so serious that the authorities have resorted to using bulldozers and payloaders which also take away some of the sand.
