Rare WesW Posted April 22, 2022 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2022 (edited) For those of us booked on the Cloud, Wind or Explorer for the next Antarctica season, fyi. https://www.seatrade-cruise.com/ports-destinations/silversea-switches-202223-antarctica-turnarounds-puerto-williams?NL=ST-004&Issue=ST-004_20220422_ST-004_604&sfvc4enews=42&cl=article_8&utm_campaign=STRADE_News_Seatrade Cruise News Weekly Headline_News_NL_04222022_3165&utm_emailname=STRADE_News_Seatrade Cruise News Weekly Headline_News_NL_04222022_3165&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Eloqua&utm_MDMContactID=50e6a358-9c66-43b3-8310-16afe9115d85&utm_campaigntype=Newsletter&utm_sub=Seatrade Cruise News Latest Headlines&eM=3667f86eb91f5ec6060c20d426017585d50012dea0e42f7512aa2968dc9afc2f&eventSeriesCode=ES_SEATRDCRSCTNT&eventEditionCode=MTM00SCC&sessionCode=S_STRDCRSNEWS Edited April 22, 2022 by WesW
Rare taxatty Posted April 22, 2022 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2022 (edited) Excellent news--thanks. Almost anything should be an upgrade over the SS Punta Arenas port experience, especially after disembarkation, starting with an aimless 2 hour "sightseeing" bus tour of a town and surrounding area with very little of interest for the sole purpose of getting you off the ship, followed by a multi-hour wait in a cramped, uncomfortable airport. That experience was the only significant negative of our recent Cloud trip. Edited April 22, 2022 by taxatty
SailinC2C Posted May 3, 2022 #3 Share Posted May 3, 2022 Since we were supposed to sail form Ushaiua, How is this going to change the number of landing days? Has anyone heard? Puerto Williams is so much farther north we must be going to lose Antarctica time.

I believe some trips have been able to add a stop or drive by of Cape Horn on the return with the additional time. Punta Arenas is much farther north. Puerto Williams is only about 30 miles down the Beagle Channel from Ushuaia. So it's actually about two hours closer to Antartica than Ushuaia. 😉
