I struggle to understand why some people worry if they might be overdressed.

My wife loves to dress up regardless of the suggested dress code so I try to compliment her attire. It’s a mutual respect thing!

It also gets me serious “brownie” points too😜

In general women like to dress up more than men and the difference between women who adhere to the dress code and those that dont is not as dramatic as it is with men when some have dinner suits and bow tie and others wear t-shirts/jeans/collared shirt and trousers with no jacket.

Wear what your comfortable with. Don't worry what the others will think; you'll never see them again. I gave up coat tie on formal nights long ago. Nice shirt and pants now. Never been turned awy.

But that is what is stated on Princess website as the dress code for formal nights -  formal dining night: evening gowns and cocktail dresses for ladies and tuxedos, dinner jackets or dark suits for men.
