I-45 onto Galveston Island Partial Lane Closures

The bridge onto Tiki Island leading into Galveston has been diagnosed as needing significant structural repair by the Texas Department of Transportation.

 

Current plans are to re-route traffic (both North and Southbound) onto one span of the bridge, then reverse the process when work starts on the other span.

 

Check the TXDOT web site before making your travel plans this Summer/Fall.

IH45 is an ongoing construction project and has been since it was first built as Hwy 75 in1948 becoming IH45 in 1971,

Currently, TxDot stated that 2 lanes (north and southbound) will remain open,
