Entry Requirements for Canadians flying to Spain (Barcelona)

Hello.

We are leaving on a 21 day Mediterranean cruise on the Regal Princess from Barcelona on August 13th. We will be flying to Barcelona on Air Canada directly from Montreal on the evening of August 9th ; arriving in Barcelona on August 10th. We are both fully vaccinated and double boosted. Does anyone know what the entry requirements are for Spain. Do we need to get tested to enter Spain? Is there a specific form or site that we need to upload our proof of vaccination prior to our departure? I know we need to be tested prior to boarding the ship, so we have made arrangements with the Concierge at our hotel in Barcelona.

Apologies if this has been asked/answered in another thread.

Thank you so much.

JY.

This government website should answer many of your questions: https://www.spth.gob.es/

Thank you. I've had a look at that site, but it is extremely confusing. Not sure sure what information, if any would apply to Canadians.  Is there anyone who has recently, or will be flying directly from Canada to Spain who can relate their experience.

Thank you again so much.

The process is pretty straight forward.

All passengers entering Spain must provide either:

1. EU Digital COVID Certificate or EU Equivalent; or

2. SpTH QR.

As a Canadian, your only option is #2.

To start, click on the blue box that says "If you DO NOT have an EU Digital COVID Certificate (DCC) or EU Equivalent, click here to access".

Next, click on the box under "New Form" that says "Family/Group FCS Form". Fill out and submit the form. To quote the website:

Once the data has been filled in, you will receive an e-mail in your mail account, with a security code and a link to create the group/family form. On this form you will need to provide your travel details and the details of all the passengers who will be travelling with you. Once the data has been filled in, you will receive a QR code for each passenger in the group.

This process appears very quick and easy to initiate, so there is no obvious reason to delay starting the process.

Just returned in the last few days. You need to fill in the Spanish health from and that’s it    Very easy to fill in   Way easier than having to worry about getting a PCR test to return as we did in November

So for proof of vaccination, were you able to just upload a copy of your Ontario vaccination record?

Thank you

  • 3 weeks later...

Just got back. Arrival in BCN, took 1.5 hours to pass non-EU passport control. The SpTH QR code was checked downstairs, that only took about a minute. You can start the form early but you have to finish it close to departure. You will need the rather long form identifier to access. No more difficult than the ArriveCAN form.

Coming back, took about 1 hour to pass security and passport control. In August, who knows?
