Bruin Steve Posted May 30, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 30, 2022 (edited) It would help a bit if you told us at which port it is you are embarking? I assume that, since you are from Rancho Palos Verdes, it is not San Pedro or Long Beach...But, for this board, it could be San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver...? NoahtheRed Posted June 1, 2022 #4 Share Posted June 1, 2022 Unless your cruise has a pretty wildly late departure, you'd be fine just heading to the port terminal. It'll take you some time to get from the airport to the terminal anyway.
DaveOKC Posted June 1, 2022 #5 Share Posted June 1, 2022 Whi;e it depends on your cruiseline and how early they will let you board (some will let you on early), I would just head to the pier. By the time you get your bags, get to transportation and travel to the pier it could easily be 10-10:30am, if not later.
Rare Ferry_Watcher Posted June 4, 2022 #6 Share Posted June 4, 2022 Friday 6/3 Celebrity Solstice sailing - the terminal doors opened at about 10:30, and ship boarding started about 11:30 AM.
nini Posted June 5, 2022 #7 Share Posted June 5, 2022 Take a transfer (maybe through Celebrity?) and head to the ship. There are waiting areas at the cruise terminal. Your flight arrives at 9:00 am? You will need to get your luggage and make your way through the maze. Then board your transfer vehicle and head to the port. Seatac and the port are not very close and there is always traffic. Recently, we returned home to Seatac about 11:30 pm and even with the late hour, it took us at least 40-45 minutes to make our way to retrieve our luggage and go to the waiting area for our shuttle to take us to the parking lot to pick up our car. And this was a late hour on a Saturday night, not 9:00 am, possibly a busy day.
nini Posted June 5, 2022 #8 Share Posted June 5, 2022 And, what if there are delays in your flight, or even a cancellation? Even if you live "fairly close" to a port, I am not fond of flying in or arriving at the port on the same day as the ship's departure. We live in Washington State, relatively close to Vancouver, BC and we will drive there the day before the cruise begins.

There are waiting areas at the cruise terminal Just to be clear, there are no comfortable waiting areas outside Pier 91. There is a single bench on either side of the front of the building. There are scattered benches out along the driveway, but on one side of the driveway is the line for the airport transfer buses, and on the other side it is the pick-up for private cars/hired vans (not Uber). These benches would most likely already be in use by disembarking passengers, or designated for ADA passengers.. There are 2 single stall restrooms (W&M) at the front of the terminal building. No water fountains. If passengers arrive early at Pier 91, be prepared to wait outside under an overhang roof (offering limited protection from the elements) until the terminal building doors re-open for embarkation. Doors can re-open any time between 10 AM and 11 AM depending on how quickly disembarkation went, and whether the ship is ready to allow passengers on. Let me clarify, that once inside the terminal, it is comfortable. However, with a 9:00 am flight arrival (on time), I would predict a 10:30 am arrival with a timely transfer.
Rare Ferry_Watcher Posted June 5, 2022 #11 Share Posted June 5, 2022 And I think @nini is correct about what time the airport transfer would arrive from SeaTac to Pier 91.
