Mandatory mask wearing in Italian and Greek ports?

Just seen this on a cruise critic e mail regarding mask wearing from Norwegian cruise lines.

The cruise line also highlights that, while docked in Greek or Italian ports, local authorities require all guests to wear masks indoors onboard the ship.

I haven’t seen this mentioned on any cruise reports from Celebrity or any other cruise lines. Is this a new requirement and enforced ? Anybody currently cruising any of these ports can enlighten us ?

Thanks, good to know, our cruise has five Greek stops with really long days in port. Most of the time we will be off the ship.

We have first boarding time in Civitavecchia though.

Bought a box of KN95 masks for the flight to Italy and transport to the port

When the Beyond was docked in Athens on 5/21 the captain announced that the local authorities required masked in all indoor spaces on and off the ship.

Does that mean that basically you have to wear masks for the entire Greek Islands EDGE cruise itinerary (except sea days)?

... or when not inside... so not when outside on deck, not when walking around the streets or on a beach for example...

Ok good to know. Haven't booked my flights for SEP 3 yet and if this remains the case I'll cancel this trip.

I would also pay attention to the official Greek position on this as right now it seems this is old news...

They lifted the general mask requirement earlier this month, and limited it to sensitive areas like medical facilities etc. and public transport.

Yeah I'll monitor this and will book a flight with miles instead of paid tix (can cancel free of charge). It's a casino booking in Aqua Class so I could swap to another sailing or just cancel. No way I'm dealing with this nonsense again.

We did the Italy and Greece Edge cruise in late May and there was no mandate to wear mask onboard the ship. Mask was only needed if you went inside a restaurant or shops in Greece or used public transportation in Italy.

Currently on Beyond Greek Island and Malta cruise. Hardly anyone wears masks outside on land, and only occasionally inside shops, cafes etc. You are meant to wear masks on buses but a substantial minority do not.

Celebrity has been quite firm with asking people to wear masks in the theater with no drink service but then packed people into Eden for a wonder at Eden event, shoulder to shoulder with standing room only,  no masks requested or worn and full drink service. 🤷‍♀️
