Time for passport

I am getting a passport for my grandchild. How long is it taking to receive them back? I know during the lockdown, it was taking a long time.

It didn't take long at all when we got one for our granddaughter, it was 4 weeks or so start to finish.

Be sure to look into what is needed to be done for a child to get a first passport, i.e., both parents may have to be present when the application is submitted. (this helps prevent international parental abductions)

Did ours during lockdown (well before reopening started not to mention before price increased) Didn't take long at all 4 1/2 weeks and didn't pay extra to speed it up. Now with traveling increasing would plan for the typical expected 10-14 weeks but likely it'll be quicker. How quick is unknown - Know one couple that did everything together last week of March -  one came in exactly 1 month  and the other showed up 3 weeks later.

We just renewed our sons passport.

4/25 applied at acceptance agency 

5/05 received by processing center

6/14 in our mailbox approximately 7 weeks start to finish.

5/17 - mailed old passport and renewal form

5/24 - received and in processing

6/28 - received new passport in the mail

 

I did NOT pay for expedited processing.  Mine was mailed to the Philadelphia processing center.

The last passport bulletin I saw was saying 5-7 weeks is the current standard, so I'd plan on somewhere around that timeframe.
