bjay3 Posted July 17, 2022 #1 Share Posted July 17, 2022 Looking for reviews on the new Miami terminal, especially comments on the Haven check-in area. Any experiences out there?

rnfulk Posted July 17, 2022 #3 Share Posted July 17, 2022 I sailed out of Miami in January. The Haven area was nice. There was comfortable seating and limited beverages and snacks provided. The security process was super fast and separate from non-Haven security.
DwayneG Posted July 17, 2022 #4 Share Posted July 17, 2022 Haven checkin in Miami is great! They had a kiosk outside before we even went inside the terminal. We showed our paperwork there and someone escorted us to a special checkin counter where we got our cards, then we were escorted to the Haven lounge. Lots of snacks available while we waited, and then someone escorted us onto the ship to the muster station. Overall, best checkin ever. Kinda wierd though, from the Haven lounge you overlook the "regular" masses below, which looks more like a typical airport terminal (still pretty nice).

Any experiences out there? The Haven check in is great with a dedicated security screening station, and dedicated check-in. For steerage, it is not so great. No seating or attempt to cater to priority guests beyond he Haven. When boarding is called, it is a free-for-all because of that. In general, the new NCL terminal is an embarrassment compared to the new Royal Caribbean terminal next door. Everything thing from the parking, to the taxi drop off, to the terminal entrance is extremely poorly designed. It's like a kid got a D- on their college architecture project, and NCL selected it for their new terminal design. Look for the tacky Haven stall before entering the terminal for priority handling. Sand and Seas Posted July 17, 2022 #7 Share Posted July 17, 2022 (edited) Downgraded from the old terminal for those of us who are Plat Plus/Sapphire/Diamond? They used to have the 'old' Haven furniture in a roped off area for those of us in highest Latitude tiers. It was closest to the boarding area and we could almost hear when we were allowed priority boarding. Edited July 17, 2022 by Sand and Seas

In the old roped off area, they actually used to come and get you to board when Priority boarding was starting. April was my first time in the new terminal and I talked to multiple people about priority seating and boarding. Nada. And not even anything for ADA boarding. Wheelchairs were pushing their way through the crowds at the boarding door. Hopefully as the ship loads goes up, they will remedy some of that. (We had nearly 3700 passengers boarding in Miami - several hundred missed the departure due to weather delays and joined the ship in Puerto Plata and St Thomas - so we were at double occupancy capacity by Day 4). Worse yet, no coke machine 😞

That Coke machine at the old terminal was our last chance for a Diet Coke😒 Kind of glad our next three cruises are from Seattle, Galveston & New Orleans. Maybe they will figure out some improvements are still needed at their shiny new Miami terminal

Coastalbreezes Posted July 18, 2022 #11 Share Posted July 18, 2022 What I think is poor planning for the new terminal is that for Haven guests, you are sent upstairs to the "VIP/Haven" check-in. After, you go to a rather expansive Haven waiting area which is lovely. BUT, once boarding begins, you have to go back downstairs then have a long, long walk to the opposite end of the terminal passing multiple waiting areas. Why wouldn't they have put Haven in that more forward area downstairs in the terminal? Makes no sense to me.
