In many bars, specialty restaurants and all of the main dining rooms....there were Zero alternatives by the glass.  The only Chard by the glass regardless of package or price was often Canyon Road. The situation was less dire with Reds.

 

Just got off the Emerald a week ago and I too was very disappointed in the wine by the glass situation. I'm like your wife and like a buttery Chardonnay.
