Bobblehat71 Posted August 2, 2022 #1 Share Posted August 2, 2022 Hi All, I'm looking to book my first MSC cruise next year on Europa. Not too bothered about cabin location so a Fantastica Balcony will suffice. However I am tempted to upgrade to Aurea/junior suite for the anytime dining and private sundeck area . Is the private sundeck perk likely to be worth the extra ? Its currently around £300pp extra. Any advice much appreciated.

No one knows about Europa yet but on most MSC ships when they are sailing fairly full sunbeds are hard to come by so the private deck would be good. It probably depends on itinerary and time of year. Don't forget Aurea also includes access to the thermal area so if you are the sort of people who will use that it could also be worthwhile. You don't say when or what itinerary which would make a big difference. If you are on a port intensive cruise in the Med then your sunbathing time might be limited. If you are in the Caribbean, it's a different story. For me, personally, 300 GBP per person would be more than I'd be willing to spend for anytime dining. In fact, you could almost do specialty dining every night for that price 🙂
ddlb Posted August 2, 2022 #4 Share Posted August 2, 2022 It includes the thermal spa which I personally love but you can get passes I think for around $130 for the whole week.

Nobody knows about the Europa which is being currently built. as per the renderings available the Aurea areas will to be nice on that ship and that alone may justify the price, but only reality will tell, not the renderings. I believe it being the usual summer southern med itineraries for Genoa, Barcelona, Marseilles, etc? If yes, bear in mind that you'll have a quite port intensive cruise with just a day at sea. That said: Aurea used to give you a superb value for your buck, with the whole inclusions. Now with very few extra amenities at the same rates (if not above) than what they used to have, I seriously doubt Aurea would mean anything for me. Only you can evaluate. Stay tuned for the special promotions. Sometimes there arrives some ones that will give you more for your buck, especially if you're flexible on your schedule. Bobblehat71 Posted August 2, 2022 Author #6 Share Posted August 2, 2022 Thanks for all the replies. It’s one of the Dubai 7 day trips next winter . Still getting my head around the MSC pricing structure 😅 Europa appears to have at least 7 different prices just for balconies !
