Swells1 Posted August 8, 2022 #1 Share Posted August 8, 2022 Can someone please confirm if NCL will dock at Amber Cove or Taino Bay? The Googles are giving me mixed results.
JandC_Cruising Posted August 8, 2022 #2 Share Posted August 8, 2022 Our last visit to Puerto Plata was in March and we docked at Taino Bay.
n4w Posted August 8, 2022 #3 Share Posted August 8, 2022 Many scheduled for Taino Bay were switched to Amber Cove in the last month.
Swells1 Posted August 8, 2022 Author #4 Share Posted August 8, 2022 This makes sense as all of the excursions I find are out of Taino Bay, but NCL's website says Amber Cove. Ugh. The best laid plans...
dbrown84 Posted August 8, 2022 #5 Share Posted August 8, 2022 I've been wondering the same because I also keep reading conflicting things. But NCL's website says they dock in Amber Cove, https://www.ncl.com/port-of-call/cruises-to-puerto-plata And cruisemapper shows NCL ships docking at Amber Cove, https://www.cruisemapper.com/ports/puerto-plata-amber-cove-port-1936?tab=schedule As does the schedule on the Amber Cove website, https://www.ambercove.com/Port-Schedule.aspx
Swells1 Posted August 8, 2022 Author #6 Share Posted August 8, 2022 I've reached out to the the tour company that I've booked my excursion through to adjust my reservation. Sometimes my obsessive need to pour over every detail pays off.
Rock N Roll Star Posted August 8, 2022 #7 Share Posted August 8, 2022 Hi Swells - I just got off the NCL Getaway this weekend. The original schedule had us going to Puerto Plata - that changed while at sea. In fact the schedule changed so much that i had the same excursion cancelled three times (yea i know is that even possible? lol) needless to say we went into Amber Cove and it was nice for a few hours. If you like rum - holy cow the prices are incredible - don't buy on the ship. I picked up three 750ml's of rum for under 25 American dollars. Have fun on your Cruise !!!! 1
Colorado Buffalo Posted August 8, 2022 #8 Share Posted August 8, 2022 We booked through https://countryworldadventures.com/ If you are looking for an excursion. They pick you up where ever your ship arrives. These folks were so nice and it was the highlight of our trip. We did Zip lines and horseback ride with lunch included. IronRobi Posted August 8, 2022 #9 Share Posted August 8, 2022 Cruisemapper shows our scheduled stop in Nov is at Amber Cove. The Amber Cove website has a port schedule and it doesn't show any arrivals on that day. The Taino Bay website shows no arrivals at all for the month of Nov. I figure at this point it's just a coin flip

I actually have more confidence in them than NCL reps, which is why I chose to contact them first.
2boyzmom Posted August 9, 2022 #12 Share Posted August 9, 2022 The day we are supposed to arrive we would be the 3rd ship in port which is over the total 8,000 person capacity noted on amber cove webpage. . I just looked at Amber Cove website and it does NOT show our ship docking there even though its on our itinerary. We are on NCL Breakaway in November.
