If you are travelling with children, bring a change of clothes. My son's luggage was missing for 2 days and you can find very little clothing on the ship for kids, especially underwear.

There is a simple solution to that.  DH and I cross pack.  We don't each have our own luggage.  We pack in packing cubes.  So, for example if we have three suitcases, we each have three separate cubes of underwear and one goes in each suitcase.  I do the same with all our clothes.   So, if one bag goes missing we still have something to wear for several days which we could survive with for an entire cruise.
