KDance Posted August 16, 2022 #1 Share Posted August 16, 2022 My dog is a trained Psychiatric Service Dog (not an esa) and we are hoping to travel to the UK via Queen Mary II. Has anyone travelled recently with a Service dog that can help me understand the entire process? Since we haven't traveled before other than by car, I'm looking for a play by play of what to expect What is required prior to sailing for Cunard and requesting permission to sail with service dog? (Defra portion I will reach out to them How is the onboarding process? Are you able to request relief boxes for the balcony? Is there anything else I should know? Thank you in advance
Host Hattie Posted August 16, 2022 #2 Share Posted August 16, 2022 There's some information from Cunard https://www.cunard.com/en-gb/the-cunard-experience/accessibility/assistance-dogs

Host Hattie Posted August 16, 2022 #4 Share Posted August 16, 2022 But it does explain what is required before boarding and that relief boxes aren't allowed on balconies so I wasn't sure if you had seen it.
TheOldBear Posted August 16, 2022 #5 Share Posted August 16, 2022 Back in 2019 I was talking to a service dog owner as we were riding the 'B' lift down to deck 1, that there was a service dog canine 'comfort station' set up in the tender lounge on the starboard side [medical center is port side]. Owners were responsible for clean up, but the cedar shavings were changed regularly. We did not discuss the paperwork required, and the F.A.Q. link is likely your best starting resource. The original post refers to "Service Dogs' which are officially permitted to accompany their owner in the onboard public Venues.
middlehaitch Posted August 31, 2022 #8 Share Posted August 31, 2022 @KDance, try your question on this board (below). There is also a very long thread at the top dedicated to travelling with a service dog. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/114-disabled-cruise-travel/ Cheers, h.
