pl281 Posted August 19, 2022 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2022 We will be going on our first Disney cruise (Fantasy) in March. We are experienced cruisers - so we know the general items. Is there anything specific to Disney we should be aware of. Categories of Interest - Dining, Shows, Internet Access
Jacqueline Posted August 19, 2022 #2 Share Posted August 19, 2022 Looks like soft drinks are free in some venues which is nice. Mealtimes are set and the waiters move with you every night, It seems that people get very into the spirit of the theming. Door magnets, fishhook extenders, hidden ducks are just three of the unique Disney stuff that passengers initiate.
Rare 1025cruise Posted August 20, 2022 #3 Share Posted August 20, 2022 Here is some basic info. Soda is included, if obtained from a dispenser at the buffet or on deck, or in the MDR. If ordered at a bar, there is a charge. There is only traditional dining (no select/my time). You will rotate through the different dining rooms, maintaining your same wait staff. The buffet is open for dinner, but it's a sit down experience. IMHO, if this is your first DCL, you should stick to the MDR for dinner. Maybe do brunch in the specialties (adults only). I sailed on the Wonder quite a few years ago and enjoyed the brunch in Palo. Entertainment is great. If there happens to be a Disney movie being released while you are on the cruise, you will have the ability to see it. There are adult's only areas. They are enforced. I have seen younger kids asked to leave an adult's only trivia. No casino, if that is your thing. You will see characters. DCL does do fireworks. Overall, it's a great time.
pl281 Posted August 22, 2022 Author #4 Share Posted August 22, 2022 Thank you to those that replied - It seems like it will be a fun experience. We managed to snag adjoining cabins at the rear of Deck 7 (Family Veranda) Thanks again
Rare travelingtink Posted August 22, 2022 #5 Share Posted August 22, 2022 (edited) A couple of clarifications to what’s been posted. Currently there is no dinner served at the buffet, it has not returned yet post Covid. Also, at Palo, the adults only restaurant, brunch has changed and price increased. Brunch used to be a buffet with some plated items that could be ordered. It is no longer a buffet, but you can order as much as you want for the single up charge. There is also another up charge spot called Remy but I haven’t experienced that one as it is a lot more costly Thant Palo. I agree that you should experience the main dining rooms for dinner as each one is themed differently. There is a pirate night that many people dress up for, although not required it is fun to join in. This will be when the fireworks are scheduled. Internet has been spotty, I have heard that they are trying to make improvements but I do not have specific feedback on whether the Fantasy has been updated. lastchamp64 Posted September 3, 2022 #6 Share Posted September 3, 2022 I would like to follow up on a previous post mentioning pirate night. The day that it is pirate night you can also make an appointment for your kids at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique that's on the ship and get a pirate themed makeover. The cost is about $45. The kids love it and will have a blast getting pirated up and mom and dad will have a great time with them during the pirate celebration later in the evening. Just make sure and book an appointment when your booking window opens. They do go fast.
