Stateroom assignment for GTY

We are 18 days to boarding with a GTY Balcony on the Regal and have not yet had our stateroom assignment, despite the fact that all balcony staterooms are showing as sold out for our cruise.  What are folks' experience with how far in advance of a cruise is it typical for a stateroom assignment to happen?  On other lines we've cruised on, we had our assignment by now.

I have seen guarantee cabins assigned as soon as the day after booking and as late as the week of sailing. Some people have reported getting their cabin assignment when they check in at the terminal. There is no set timeframe.

Sometimes a GTY is assigned shortly after booking.  Otherwise, it seems to take near to sailing.  It can be anytime, and at least some poster will suggest you may not find out until check-in.  Not really true - check your Cruise Personalizer a couple days before or day before if not already got it by then.  Yes, cabins may appear sold out because they know they had to hold back to satisfy the GTY's.  If they managed to oversell, then they have to start making "move offer" offers to folks to free up cabins.

Got my best upgrade while flying out to cruise.  It was a couple of days pre cruise as we were spending some time in New York pre a cruise to Canada.  Have patience at worst they will give you a pillow and blanket and assign you a vacant tender 😁😁

Hi snorkelphile, from your 18 days comment and the fact it's the Regal, we're on the exact same sailing from Rome as you. We've booked a Deluxe Balcony guarantee (in fact, when be booked back in the Spring they were only selling guarantees) and still haven't had an assignment.

I wondered if the nature of the Regal cruises this summer - 3 different 7 day itineraries - which are also sold in all sorts of 14 and 21 day combinations might also delay assignments.

Looking forward to it!

We had a nice upgrade for our GTY on the Majestic in May; came through when least expected, Easter Monday, 20 days out. Very pleased, but the morning of the sailing the cabin number disappeared on the app. Three hours of excitement and then the same cabin number reappeared. For a while we dreamed of a suite....most probably a glitch!
