MrTexTJ Posted September 2, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 2, 2022 We went on a cruise in early August and booked a whale watching and wildlife tour with Gallant Adventures in Sitka. Captain Paul Davis was a great tour guide and found many whales, sea otters, and birds, including puffins and eagles. He has a relatively new boat that only holds six people, so we had great conversations about the history and attractions around Sitka. We saw many whales and I got some great photos. He took us to a remote wildlife refuge island, Saint Lazaria Island, and saw many unique birds, starfish, sea anemones and beautiful tropical landscapes. His cost is much less than ship excursions, and even less if you charter the boat with six people. It was the best excursion I can ever remember. Highly recommend.
Glaciers Posted September 2, 2022 #2 Share Posted September 2, 2022 Nice to see Paul and Gallant Adventures get a mention here. We went out with him several years ago and it was our best wildlife excursion we've been on too.

m12e31g Posted November 21, 2022 #7 Share Posted November 21, 2022 Torn between Gallant and a ship excursion. Do you feel that with the smaller boat you got closer to wildlife? Looking to get close (within reason) vs just far off sightings with binoculars.
