I'm not sure I understand your question.

When you say "VIP access", are you referring to "sitting in the special section of the theater" for shows?  You just make reservations for whatever shows you want to go to when you get on the ship.  Set up the app on your phone before you go and get logged in, then as soon as you board and connect to the ship's network, you can scroll through the whole week's entertainment and make your reservations.

When you get to the show, you can go sit in the "special section" if you want to (it's not necessarily the most desired part of the venue). FYI, they open up the "special section" to the general public around 10 minutes before the show starts, so don't leave your arrival to the venue to the last minute.

When you say "connect to the ship's network" do you mean with an internet package? Like, if you do not pay for the internet package, can you still connect and use the ship's network?

Yes, you can connect to the ship's wifi and use the Royal App with0out paying for anything.  If you want to do anything else on The Internet, you have to pay.

As @rudeney stated, when you connect to the wifi on the ship, it asks you if you want to purchase/activate an internet package, or if you want to use the app for free.

If you choose the app/free option, you are connected to the ship's network but you don't have access to the internet, emails, social media, etc.  It's just the ship's own internal network that you are connected to.
